I remember receiving my first cd when I was maybe 3 or 4 years old. It was the single Dark Horse by Amanda Marshall and besides being drawn to it for the obvious reasons (I was/am completely horse obsessed) I remember something about the lyrics and the melody resonating with me. Of course I was three years old so all I knew was that I loved this song but listening as an adult I can begin to understand why.
It was from here that my love of CDs began to develop. Before you ask, yes I did have cassette tapes before then and yes I do remember getting my first Walkman. Ahh the 90’s!
Now days people always are surprised that I still buy CDs instead of downloading them online. I always get asked why?! So here is my top three reasons why I love buying CDs:
1. The artwork - Photo books inside CD covers fascinate me. I always want to read every little detail and all the small things that the artist has included just for the fans to see. Taylor Swifts early albums had hidden secret codes in each of the song lyrics and it brought the fans even closer to her as an artist. I love that.
2. Nothing is more satisfying to me than ripping off the plastic of a new CD, pulling out that beautiful PERFECT disc and listening to the whole album from start to finish in my car or at home. I don’t get that same satisfaction with a download!
3. Supporting artists - When I see someone playing live that I really admire, I love waiting in line and buying their CD for them to sign it or just to meet them and show them my support! That CD then becomes a priceless memory!
Yes I am pretty sentimental and nostalgic when it comes to CDs but I want to know do you still like buying CDs or do you prefer to download and why?
